Scholarships available to Year 12 Students

Scholarships ranging in value from $600 to $30,000 are available to support current Year 12 students intending to continue their studies next year. Applicants are encouraged to apply for as many scholarships that they may be eligible for.


Alexander Rushall Scholarship for year 12 students undertaking a degree next year - no restrictions on the course


Scholarship details
  • Sponsored by Perpetual Limited
  • Valued at $1,800
  • Available for one year
  • Ten scholarships will be awarded in 2023

Who can apply?
  • Students who complete Year 12 in 2022 in a registered Victorian government school and who will commence full-time university in 2023
  • Students involved in school and community activities
  • Students who demonstrate financial need

What to include with your application
  • Applicant's 2022 end-of-year academic results (Step 2 of the online application form)
  • Applicant's confirmation of enrolment in an approved tertiary course (no restrictions on the course) – evidence will be required via email by 1 March 2023
  • Statements confirming the applicant’s involvement in school and community activities (Step 3 of the online application form)
  • Evidence of the applicant receiving Youth Allowance or holding either a Health Care Card, a Low Income Health Care Card or a Pensioner Concession Card - Centrelink Reference Number required (Step 4 of the online application form)

Alice Jennings Scholarship for Year 12 female Koorie students undertaking a degree in 2023


Scholarship details
  • Sponsored by the Department of Education and Training
  • Valued at $1000
  • Available for the duration of the course, subject to satisfactory academic progress
  • One scholarship awarded each year

Who can apply?
  • Female Koorie students undertaking Year 12 in 2022 in a registered Victorian school and who will be commencing a full-time approved TAFE or university course in 2023, in a field that contributes to the welfare of the Koorie population (i.e. law, social work, education, psychology or applied science – health, nursing, etc
  • Students involved in Koorie community activities

What to include with your application
  • Applicant's 2022 end-of-year academic results. Results must be entered via Step 2 of the online application form and must be verified by the school principal
  • Applicant's confirmation of enrolment in an approved TAFE or university course. Evidence will be required via email by 1 March 2023
  • Statement confirming the applicant’s involvement in Koorie community activities. The statement must be included in the 'Community Activities' section (Step 3) of the online application form

Australian Veterans Children Assistance Trust


Scholarship details
  • Administered by the Australian Veterans’ Children’s Assistance Trust (AVCAT)
  • Valued approximately $4,000-$6,000 per year
  • Available for up to three years full time study (conditions apply)
  • Multiple scholarships awarded each year

Who can apply?
  • Only students who are a child or grandchild of a person who has operational service (as defined by the legislation) or three or more years of continuous full-time service, as a member of the Australian Navy, Army or Air Force
  • Students who are enrolled (or planning to enrol) in a full-time undergraduate, tertiary course of one or more academic years duration by attendance at an Australian tertiary institution
  • Students in receipt of, or eligible to receive, Centrelink payments including Youth Allowance, ABSTUDY, Austudy or an accepted means-tested Commonwealth government payment
  • Students who are Australian residents

What documentation you need to provide?
  • Copy of your birth certificate
  • Copy of the Veteran's service record
  • Evidence of the applicant receiving Youth Allowance benefits for full-time study
  • Applicant’s confirmation of enrolment in a full-time course at an Australian university or TAFE – the course must be of one or more academic years in length at an undergraduate level
  • Copy of academic results for the last 18 months
  • A personal statement and Academic Referee Report

Dafydd Lewis Trust Scholarships for Year 12 boys


Scholarship details
  • Applications are open until Friday 27 January 2023
  • Administered by Equity Trustees
  • Valued at $10,000 per year for three years only
  • Dafydd Lewis Trust scholarships are only available to boys
  • Multiple new scholarships awarded each year

Who can apply?
  • The Dafydd Lewis Trust provides equity and merit-based scholarships of $10,000 a year for 3 years to young men who might not have otherwise received a University education due to the limited financial resources of their parents
  • All applicants will need to complete a means test to be eligible
  • Applicants who are under 19 years of age on 1st January 2023 (i.e. not yet 20) – exceptions apply for holders of humanitarian visas

  • Written report/statement from applicant
  • Written report/statement from principal

  • Martha McKay - nee Dammery, was born in Windsor on 3rd March, 1880 as the second daughter and youngest of the five children of Edward Dammery and Eliza Jane Barr
  • Martha's brother, Thomas Dammery was a school teacher, headmaster and regional inspector of schools in the Ballarat area. He was a firm believer in State Education
  • It is believed that her mother's illiteracy and advocacy of education, and her brother's role as a teacher, led Martha to leave her money to create the Dammery Educational Trust for those who might otherwise not have the opportunity for continued education

Ella Donald Service Fine Arts Memorial Scholarships for Year 12 students undertaking a Fine Arts degree in 2023


Scholarship details

  • Available for the duration of the course, subject to satisfactory academic progress
  • Several scholarships awarded each year

Who can apply?
  • Students who complete VCE in 2022 in a registered Victorian government school
  • Students who will commence a full-time fine arts degree or diploma in 2023. If you are not undertaking a full-time arts degree or diploma, please do not apply for this scholarship as you are not eligible
  • Students under 21 years of age who demonstrate financial need

What to include with your application
  • Applicant's 2022 end-of-year academic results (Step 2 of the online application form. Must be verified by the school principal)
  • Applicant's 2023 confirmation of enrolment in a full-time fine arts course – evidence will be required via email by 1 March 2023

Francis Gregory Foundation Scholarship for Year 12 students


Scholarship details
  • Administered by Francis Gregory Foundation Trustees
  • Valued at $6,000 per year (subject to annual review)
  • Available for the duration of the student’s undergraduate degree
  • Two scholarships awarded each year

Who can apply?
  • Registered VCE students who are Australian citizens
  • VCE students who achieve an ATAR score greater than 80
  • VCE students who intend to undertake a full-time degree at any university in Australia
  • Students who are residents of Victoria and live in an FZ zone (as defined by the Victorian Government Department of Planning and Community Development) and whose parents own the property from which the main family income is derived
  • Students who can demonstrate financial hardship in relation to pursuing University studies

George Garibaldi Turri Scholarships for Year 12 students undertaking a teaching degree next year


Scholarship details
  • Managed by the Department of Education and Training
  • Valued at $2680 for the first year
  • Available for the duration of the course up to four years, subject to satisfactory academic progress
  • Multiple scholarships awarded each year

Who can apply?
  • Students who complete Year 12 in 2022 in a registered Victorian government school and will commence a full-time course in teacher education in 2023
  • Only students commencing a teaching degree in 2022 are eligible. If you are not undertaking a teaching degree in 2023, please consider applying for other scholarships as you are not eligible for the George Garibaldi Turri Scholaship

  • Students attending a Victorian government school

  • Mary Jane Lewis Trust Scholarship Foundations scholarships are only available to girls
  • Multiple new scholarships awarded each year

Who can apply?
  • Female students who intend to undertake a full-time degree at university in 2023 - there are no restrictions on courses a student can study
  • Students whose parents'/guardians' joint gross income does not exceed the permissible threshold (refer to www.maryjanelewis.com.au)
  • There is no age restriction for applicants, however please note the restrictions regarding secondary education
