Scholarships available to Year 12 Students

Scholarships ranging in value from $600 to $30,000 are available to support current Year 12 students intending to continue their studies next year. Applicants are encouraged to apply for as many scholarships that they may be eligible for.


Alexander Rushall Scholarship for year 12 students undertaking a degree next year - no restrictions on the course


Scholarship details
  • Sponsored by Trust Company Limited
  • Valued at $1500
  • Available for one year
  • Five scholarships will be awarded in 2021

Who can apply?
  • Students completing Year 12 in 2020 in a registered Victorian government school who will commence full-time university in 2021
  • Students involved in school and community activities
  • Students who demonstrate financial need

What documentation do you need to provide?
  • Applicant's 2020 end-of-year academic results
  • Applicant's confirmation of enrolment in an approved tertiary course (no restrictions on the course) – evidence will be required by 1 March 2021
  • Statements confirming the applicant’s involvement in school and community activities
  • Evidence of the applicant receiving Youth Allowance or the parent/guardian holding either a Health Care Card, a Low Income Health Care Card or a Pensioner Concession Card - Centrelink Reference Number required


  • NOTE: Students with limited access to school and community activities due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic may include details of their previous involvement in school and community activities

Alice Jennings Scholarship for Year 12 female Koorie students undertaking a degree next year


Scholarship details
  • Sponsored by the Department of Education and Training
  • Valued at $1000
  • Available for the duration of the course, subject to satisfactory academic progress
  • One scholarship awarded each year

Who can apply?
  • Female Koorie students who are currently completing Year 12 in 2020 in a registered Victorian school, who will be commencing a full-time approved TAFE or university course in 2021 in a field that contributes to the welfare of the Koorie population (i.e. law, social work, education, psychology or applied science – health, nursing, etc
  • Students involved in Koorie community activities

What documentation do you need to provide?
  • Applicant's 2020 end-of-year academic results
  • Applicant's confirmation of enrolment in an approved TAFE or university course – evidence will be required by 31 March 2021
  • Statement confirming the applicant’s involvement in Koorie community activities

Australian Veterans Children Assistance Trust


Scholarship details
  • Administered by the Australian Veterans’ Children’s Assistance Trust (AVCAT)
  • Valued approximately $4000
  • Available for up to three years full time study(conditions apply)
  • Multiple scholarships awarded each year

Who can apply?
  • Only students who are a child or grandchild of a person who has operational service (as defined by the legislation) or three or more years of continuous full-time service, as a member of the Australian Navy, Army or Air Force.
  • Students who are enrolled (or planning to enrol) in a full-time undergraduate, tertiary course of one or more academic years duration by attendance at an Australian tertiarty institution
  • Students who are eligible on income and assets grounds for the Centrelink Youth Allowance full-time educational benefits, at the time of application, if currently in full-time education (NB students may elect to receive VCES instead of Youth Allowance)
  • Students who are Australian residents

What documentation you need to provide?
  • Copy of your birth certificate
  • Copy of the Veteran's service record
  • Evidence of the applicant receiving Youth Allowance benefits for full-time study
  • Applicant’s confirmation of enrolment in a full-time course at an Australian university or TAFE – the course must be of one or more academic years in length at an undergraduate level
  • Copy of your academic results for the last 18 months
  • A personal statement and Academic Referee Report

Dafydd Lewis Trust Scholarships for Year 12 boys


Scholarship details
  • Administered by Equity Trustees
  • Applications open mid-October 2020: further information and the online application can be found at www.dafyddlewis.com.au
  • Valued at $10,000 per year for three years only
  • Dafydd Lewis Trust scholarships are only available to boys
  • Multiple new scholarships awarded each year

Who can apply?
  • Male students educated at a Victorian government school for the last 5 years preceding the awarding of the scholarships – exceptions apply for holders of humanitarian visas
  • Male students who intend to undertake a full-time degree at any university in Victoria in 2021 with the exception of Arts, Education, Music and Theology
  • Students whose parents'/guardians' joint gross income does not exceed the permissible threshold ($84,958.00 in 2019/20)
  • Applicants who are under 19 years of age on 1st January 2021 (i.e. not yet 20) – exceptions apply for holders of humanitarian visas

  • Written report/statement from applicant

  • Available for one year

Who can apply?
  • Students completing Year 12 in 2020 in a registered Victorian government school who will commence full-time university in 2021
  • Families or students who demonstrate financial need

  • Martha McKay - nee Dammery, was born in Windsor on 3rd March, 1880 as the second daughter and youngest of the five children of Edward Dammery and Eliza Jane Barr
  • Martha's brother, Thomas Dammery was a school teacher, headmaster and regional inspector of schools in the Ballarat area. He was a firm believer in State Education
  • It is believed that her mother's illiteracy and advocacy of education, and her brother's role as a teacher, led Martha to leave her money to create the Dammery Educational Trust for those who might otherwise not have the opportunity for continued education

Ella Donald Service Fine Arts Memorial Scholarships for Year 12 students undertaking a Fine Arts degree next year


Scholarship details

  • Valued at $1000
  • Available for the duration of the course, subject to satisfactory academic progress
  • Several scholarships awarded each year

Who can apply?
  • Students who are completing VCE in 2020 in a registered Victorian government school
  • Students who will commence a full-time fine arts degree or diploma in 2021
  • Students under 21 years of age who demonstrate financial need

What documentation you need to provide?
  • Applicant's 2020 end-of-year academic results
  • Applicant's 2021 confirmation of enrolment in a full-time fine arts course – evidence will be required by 1 March 2021
  • VCE results and evidence that VCE was completed in a Victorian government school
  • Evidence of the applicant receiving Youth Allowance or the applicant's parent/guardian holding either a Health Care Card, a Low Income Health Care Card or a Pensioner Concession Card (Centrelink Reference Number required)

Francis Gregory Foundation Scholarship for Year 12 students


Scholarship details
  • Administered by Francis Gregory Foundation Trustees
  • Valued at $6,000 per year (subject to annual review)
  • Available for the duration of the student’s undergraduate degree
  • Two scholarships awarded each year

Who can apply?
  • Registered VCE students who are Australian citizens
  • VCE students who have achieved an ATAR score greater than 80 in 2020
  • VCE students who intend to undertake a full-time degree at any university in Australia in 2021
  • Students who are residents of Victoria and live in an FZ zone (as defined by the Victorian Government Department of Planning and Community Development) and whose parents own the property from which the main family income is derived
  • Students who can demonstrate financial hardship in relation to pursuing University studies

  • The Francis Gregory Foundation was established in 2012 and the first scholarships were awarded in 2013. The scholarship has been established to provide financial support to children of primary producers, to assist them to undertake University undergraduate studies by reducing financial barriers

Frederick Richard O’Connell Scholarship for year 12 students


Scholarship details
  • Administered by Equity Trustees Limited
  • Valued at up to $5,000 per scholarship
  • Available for one year.

Who can apply?
  • Students who will commence or continue a full-time degree or accredited course at a Victorian university in 2021
  • Students who demonstrate good character, personality, academic achievement and proficiency at sport.

What documentation you need to provide?
  • Student's 2021 confirmation of enrolment in an approved degree or accredited course at a Victorian university
  • Evidence of the applicant's parent/guardian Timber Merchants Association (Victoria) membership details (if applicable).

  • Valued at $2682 for the first year
  • Available for the duration of the course up to four years, subject to satisfactory academic progress
  • Thirty scholarships awarded each year

Who can apply?
  • Students who are currently completing Year 12 in 2020 in a registered Victorian government school and will commence a full-time course in teacher education in 2021
  • Only students commencing a teaching degree in 2021 are eligible
  • Students involved in school and community activities
  • Students who demonstrate financial need

What documentation you need to provide?
  • Applicant's 2020 end-of-year academic results
  • Applicant's 2021 confirmation of enrolment in an approved teacher education course – evidence will be required by 31 March 2021

Who can apply?
  • Students completing VCE in Music Performance as a soloist and/or Music Investigation as a soloist and/or VCE VET Music Industry (Performance) as a soloist
  • Students attending a Victorian government school
  • Students who can demonstrate a commitment to music in recent years and to a future career in music performance

  • Available for the first year of the student’s course in music composition at an approved tertiary institution
  • One or more scholarships awarded each year in each category.

Who can apply?
  • Students completing VCE in Music Style and Composition, Music Investigation and/or VCE VET Music Industry (Performance) where students have included an original work in their performance examination program
  • Students attending a Victorian government school
  • Students who can demonstrate a commitment to music in recent years and to a future career in music composition.

What documentation you need to provide?
  • Submit an on-line application form to VCAA (available on the VCAA website in early September)
  • VCE results for any or all of the above Music studies

Mary Jane Lewis Trust Scholarship for Year 12 girls


Scholarship details
  • Administered by Equity Trustees
  • Applications will open later in the year
  • Valued at $10,000 per year for three years only
  • Mary Jane Lewis Trust Scholarship Foundations scholarships are only available to girls
  • Multiple new scholarships awarded each year

Who can apply?
  • Female students who intend to undertake a full-time degree at university in 2021 - there are no restrictions on courses a student can study
  • Students whose parents'/guardians' joint gross income does not exceed the permissible threshold ($84,958.00 in 2019/20)
  • There is no age restriction for applicants, however please note the restrictions regarding secondary education

What documentation you need to provide?
  • Proof of the applicant’s parents'/guardians' financial status
  • Written report/statement from applicant
  • Written report/statement from principal
  • Evidence of the applicant’s ATAR score (when available).
