  • Students completing Year 12 in 2018 in a registered Victorian government school who will commence full-time university in 2019
  • Students involved in school and community activities

  • Applicant's 2018 academic results as evidence that VCE was completed in a Victorian government school
  • Applicant's confirmation of enrolment in an approved tertiary course – evidence will be required by 1 March 2019
  • Statements confirming the applicant’s involvement in school and community activities

Alice Jennings Scholarship


Scholarship details

  • Available for the duration of the course, subject to satisfactory academic progress
  • One scholarship awarded each year.

Who can apply?
  • Female Koorie students who are completing Year 12 in 2018 in a registered Victorian school, who will be commencing a full-time approved TAFE or university course in 2019 in a field that contributes to the welfare of the Koorie population (i.e. law, social work, education, psychology or applied science – health, nursing, etc
  • Students involved in Koorie community activities.

  • Applicant's confirmation of enrolment in an approved TAFE or university course – evidence will be required by 1 March 2019

Charlotte Wilson Scholarship


Scholarship details

Who can apply?
  • Australian citizens, female students who have completed their second year of training at the University of Melbourne in 2018 to qualify as a primary teacher, and
  • have completed their VCE in a registered Victorian government school, and
  • can demonstrate financial need.

What documentation you need to provide?
  • Applicant's 2018 University of Melbourne academic results
  • Evidence of the applicant receiving Youth Allowance and in receipt of either a Health Care Card, a Low Income Health Care Card or a Pensioner Concession Card - Centrelink Reference Number required.
  • Evidence that VCE was completed in a Victorian government school
  • Confirmation of re-enrolment for third year of teacher training in 2019 at Melbourne University should be scanned and emailed to studenscholarships@edumail.vic.gov.au by 1 March 2019.

Doris Evans Scholarship

Who can apply?
  • Female student teachers who are currently completing their second year of teacher training in 2018 at an accredited tertiary institution in Victoria to qualify as a teacher of primary-aged children.
  • Female student teachers who will undertake their third year of teacher training in 2019 at an accredited tertiary institution in Victoria to qualify as a teacher of primary-aged children.
  • Female student teachers who have completed their VCE in a registered Victorian non-metropolitan government school.
  • Female student teachers who are not holders of any other scholarships.
  • Female student teachers who demonstrate financial need.

What documentation you need to provide?

  • Evidence of the applicant receiving Youth Allowance or the applicant's parent/guardian holding either a Health Care Card, a Low Income Health Care Card or a Pensioner Concession Card (Card Reference Number required).

Francis Gregory Foundation Scholarship


Scholarship details
  • Administered by Francis Gregory Foundation Trustees
  • Valued at $6,000 per year (subject to annual review)
  • Available for the duration of the student’s undergraduate degree
  • Two scholarships awarded each year.

Who can apply?
  • Registered VCE students who are Australian citizens
  • VCE students who have achieved an ATAR score greater than 80 in 2018
  • VCE students who intend to undertake a full-time degree at any university in Australia in 2019
  • Students who are residents of Victoria and live in an FZ zone (as defined by the Victorian Government Department of Planning and Community Development) and whose parents own the property from which the main family income is derived
  • Students who can demonstrate financial hardship in relation to pursuing University studies
  • Students who are between the age of 17 and 20 as of 1st January 2019.

  • The Francis Gregory Foundation was established in 2012 and the first scholarships were awarded in 2013. The scholarship has been established to provide financial support to children of primary producers, to assist them to undertake University undergraduate studies by reducing financial barriers.

Scholarships for Children of Veterans


Scholarship details
  • Administered by the Australian Veterans’ Children’s Assistance Trust (AVCAT)
  • Valued between $3000 and $5000
  • Available for one or more years (conditions apply)
  • Multiple scholarships awarded each year.

Who can apply?
  • Only students who are a child or grandchild of a person who has operational service (as defined by the legislation) or three or more years continuous full-time service, as a member of the Australian Navy, Army or Air Force.
  • Students who are under the age of 25 when applying unless exceptional circumstances exist related to the veteran.
  • Students who are enrolled (or planning to enrol) in a full-time undergraduate, tertiary course of one or more academic years duration by attendance at an Australian Institution.
  • Students who are eligible on income and assets grounds for the Centrelink Youth Allowance full-time educational benefits, at the time of application, if currently in full-time education. (NB students may elect to receive VCES instead of Youth Allowance).
  • Students who are Australian residents.

What documentation you need to provide?
  • Copy of your birth certificate
  • Copy of the Veteran's service record
  • Evidence of the applicant receiving Youth Allowance benefits for full-time study
  • Applicant’s confirmation of enrolment in a full-time course at an Australian university or TAFE – the course must be of one or more academic years in length at an undergraduate level

United World Colleges Scholarships


Scholarship details
  • Administered by United World Colleges (Australia) Trust Ltd
  • To study the International Baccalaureate (IB) at one of the United World Colleges (UWC) overseas
  • Various scholarship schemes on offer with at least one full, and several partial scholarships awarded annually
  • Places for 2019-2021 will be available soon. Last year places were offered at these UWCs - Costa Rica, Armenia, China, Canada, Hong Kong, India, Wales and Japan
  • Ideally, candidates will apply based on the desire to attend a UWC rather than go to a specific country, as the national Committee cannot guarantee that successful candidates will be offered their preferred location

  • United World Colleges was founded in 1962. It is an organisation dedicated to the promotion of world peace through the education of young people.
  • Students in their last two years of secondary school are chosen from over eighty countries to attend one of the fifteen colleges around the world. The main objective is to educate outstanding young people from various national, ethnic and social backgrounds.
  • Students are assessed on their personal merit and potential, irrespective of race, creed, colour, gender, family background or ability to pay.
  • The first Australian students attended a UWC in 1972 and since then approximately 370 Australians have attended United World Colleges.
  • At present, twelve Australian students are completing their IB at a UWC in Canada, United States of America, Italy, Costa Rica, India, Bosnia, Herzegovina and The Netherlands.
