  • Australian citizens, female students who have completed their second year of training at the University of Melbourne in 2017 to qualify as a primary teacher, and

Dafydd Lewis Trust Scholarships


Scholarship details

  • Valued at $10,000 per year for three years only
  • Dafydd Lewis Trust Scholarships are only available to boys
  • Approximately 10 new scholarships awarded each year.

Who can apply?
  • Male students educated at a Victorian government school for the last 5 years preceding the awarding of the scholarships – exceptions apply for holders of humanitarian visas.
  • Male students who intend to undertake a full-time degree at any university in Victoria in 2017 with the exception of Arts, Education, Music and Theology.
  • Students whose parents'/guardians' joint gross income does not exceed the permissible threshold ($80,278.00 per annum in 2017).
  • Applicants who are under 19 years of age on 1st January 2018 (i.e. not yet 20) – exceptions apply for holders of humanitarian visas.

  • Proof of the applicant’s parents'/guardians' financial status.
  • Written report/statement from applicant.

Further information
  • Martha McKay - nee Dammery, was born in Windsor on 3rd March, 1880 as the second daughter and youngest of the five children of Edward Dammery and Eliza Jane Barr.
  • Martha's brother, Thomas Dammery was a school teacher, headmaster and regional inspector of schools in the Ballarat area. He was a firm believer in State Education.
  • It is believed that her mother's illiteracy and advocacy of education, and her brother's role as a teacher, led Martha to leave her money to create the Dammery Educational Trust for those who might otherwise not have the opportunity for continued education.

  • Students who are residents of Victoria and live in an FZ zone (as defined by the Victorian Government Department of Planning and Community Development) and whose parents own the property from which the main family income is derived

Kluwell Publications Educational Scholarship


Scholarship details
  • Administered by Kluwell Publications
  • Valued at $10,000 paid over four years (subject to annual review)
  • Payments are made per semester (first year $4,000, second year $3000, third year $2,000 and fourth year $1,000)
  • One scholarship awarded each year.

Who can apply?
  • Students intending to enrol in their first year of the Bachelor of Education (primary) at LaTrobe University (Bendigo campus) on a full time basis for the first time in 2018
  • Students who are currently completing Year 12 in a regional or rural township (with a population of 65,000 or less) in 2017
  • VCE students who intend to undertake a full-time degree at LaTrobe University Bendigo campus in 2018
  • Students who can demonstrate financial hardship in relation to pursuing University studies
  • Students intending to teach in a primary setting only
  • Students are not eligible if they are already in receipt of another scholarship.

What documentation you need to provide?
  • Application form addressing the eligibility criteria which should also include a personal statement detailing career goals, ambitions and financial hardship circumstances
  • Documentary evidence to support the financial hardship described in the personal statement. Documentary evidence includes a copy of the most recent Centrelink statement or most recent tax return
  • Written report/statement from principal and referees
  • A copy of your Year 12 academic results and an offical statement as evidence that you attended a regional secondary school in 2017. Your application will be ineligible without proof that you attended a regional secondary college in 2017.

  • The Kluwell Publications Educational Scholarship was established in 2014 and the first recipients awarded will graduate in early 2018 after completing their four year course at the end of 2017. This scholarship recognises the financial obstacles and other barriers facing students from rural and remote locations and has been established to provided financial support to students who are required to relocate from home in order to undertake University undergraduate studies.

  • Female students who intend to undertake a full-time degree at any university in Victoria in 2018 - there are no restrictions on courses a student can study.
  • Students whose parents'/guardians' joint gross income does not exceed the permissible threshold ($80,278.00 per annum in 2017).
  • Applicants who are under 19 years of age on 1st January 2018 (i.e. not yet 20) – exceptions apply for holders of humanitarian visas.

  • In 1946, funds were bequeathed by Robert Sterne Marr to provide a scholarship in perpetuity for the promotion and encouragement of education in Victoria.
  • The money is paid to the student's school for essential educational items for which parents are normally expected to pay or pay the school to provide. These essential items do not include voluntary contributions.
  • At the end of the year, if there is a remaining balance, it is paid to the parent/guardian for the benefit of the student.

  • Valued at $8,000 per year for a standard EEF scholarship and $14,000 per year for a Sir Frank Espie/Rio Tinto scholarship
  • Available for up to three years (conditions apply)

Who can apply?
  • Students studying in an AusIMM recognised course
  • Students must be Australian residents or hold permanent resident visas
  • Students with an excellent knowledge of the minerals industry
  • Students with minerals industry work experience (vacation or part-time work)
  • Students intending to work in the minerals industry after graduation
  • Students with demonstrated team and leadership skills (via Student Chapters, AusIMM and/or other activities)
  • Students participating in AusIMM activities (Student Chapters, Branch activities and conferences)
  • Students participating in other minerals-related societies.
