  • Female Koorie students who are completing Year 12 in 2018 in a registered Victorian school, who will be commencing a full-time approved TAFE or university course in 2019 in a field that contributes to the welfare of the Koorie population (i.e. law, social work, education, psychology or applied science – health, nursing, etc
  • Students involved in Koorie community activities.

Charlotte Wilson Scholarship

Who can apply?
  • Australian citizens, female students who have completed their second year of training at the University of Melbourne in 2018 to qualify as a primary teacher, and
  • have completed their VCE in a registered Victorian government school, and
  • can demonstrate financial need.

Dafydd Lewis Trust Scholarships for Year 12 male students


Scholarship details
  • Administered by Equity Trustees
  • Valued at $10,000 per year for three years only
  • Dafydd Lewis Trust Scholarships are only available to boys
  • Multiple new scholarships awarded each year.

Who can apply?
  • Male students educated at a Victorian government school for the last 5 years preceding the awarding of the scholarships – exceptions apply for holders of humanitarian visas.
  • Male students who intend to undertake a full-time degree at any university in Victoria in 2018 with the exception of Arts, Education, Music and Theology.
  • Students whose parents'/guardians' joint gross income does not exceed the permissible threshold ($82,483.00 per annum in 2018).
  • Applicants who are under 19 years of age on 1st January 2019 (i.e. not yet 20) – exceptions apply for holders of humanitarian visas.

What documentation you need to provide?
  • Proof of the applicant’s parents'/guardians' financial status.
  • Written report/statement from applicant.
  • Written report/statement from principal.
  • Evidence of the applicant’s ATAR score (when available).

Further information
  • Martha McKay - nee Dammery, was born in Windsor on 3rd March, 1880 as the second daughter and youngest of the five children of Edward Dammery and Eliza Jane Barr.
  • Martha's brother, Thomas Dammery was a school teacher, headmaster and regional inspector of schools in the Ballarat area. He was a firm believer in State Education.
  • It is believed that her mother's illiteracy and advocacy of education, and her brother's role as a teacher, led Martha to leave her money to create the Dammery Educational Trust for those who might otherwise not have the opportunity for continued education.

Scholarship details

  • Valued at $6,000 per year (subject to annual review)
  • Available for the duration of the student’s undergraduate degree
  • Two scholarships awarded each year.

Who can apply?
  • Registered VCE students who are Australian citizens
  • VCE students who have achieved an ATAR score greater than 80 in 2018
  • VCE students who intend to undertake a full-time degree at any university in Australia in 2019
  • Students who are residents of Victoria and live in an FZ zone (as defined by the Victorian Government Department of Planning and Community Development) and whose parents own the property from which the main family income is derived
  • Students who can demonstrate financial hardship in relation to pursuing University studies
  • Students who are between the age of 17 and 20 as of 1st January 2019.

Kluwell Publications Educational Scholarship for Year 12 students


Scholarship details
  • Administered by Kluwell Publications
  • Valued at $10,000 paid over four years (subject to annual review)
  • Payments are made each year (first year $4,000, second year $3000, third year $2,000 and fourth year $1,000)
  • One scholarship awarded each year.

Who can apply?
  • Students intending to enrol in their first year of the Bachelor of Education (primary) at LaTrobe University (Bendigo campus) on a full time basis for the first time in 2019
  • Students who are currently completing Year 12 in a regional or rural township (with a population of 65,000 or less) in 2018
  • VCE students who intend to undertake a full-time degree at LaTrobe University Bendigo campus in 2019
  • Students who can demonstrate financial hardship in relation to pursuing University studies
  • Students intending to teach in a primary setting only
  • Students are not eligible if they are already in receipt of another scholarship.

What documentation you need to provide?
  • Application form addressing the eligibility criteria which should also include a personal statement detailing career goals, ambitions and financial hardship circumstances
  • Documentary evidence to support the financial hardship described in the personal statement. Documentary evidence includes a copy of the most recent Centrelink statement or most recent tax return
  • Written report/statement from principal and referees
  • A copy of your Year 12 academic results and an offical statement as evidence that you attended a regional secondary school in 2018. Your application will be ineligible without proof that you attended a regional secondary college in 2018.

Further information
  • The Kluwell Publications Educational Scholarship was established in 2014 and the first recipients who were awarded scholarships graduated in 2018 after completing their four year course at the end of 2017. This scholarship recognises the financial obstacles and other barriers facing students from rural and remote locations and has been established to provide financial support to students who are required to relocate from home in order to undertake University undergraduate studies.

Who can apply?
    Marrung Education Scholarships are for students who:
  • are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
  • are completing Year 10 at a Victorian government school in 2018
  • are planning on completing Year 11 and 12 at a Victorian government school commencing in 2019.

What documentation you need to provide?
  • Applicant's 2018 Year 10 school reports.
  • Referee reports confirming the applicant’s involvement in school and Koorie community activities.
  • Name and contact details from a school referee, eg. school principal or teacher.
  • Name and contact details from a community referee, eg. Koorie Elder, Local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (LAECG) Chairperson or Koorie Engagement Support Officer (KESO).
  • Signed media consent form.

Additional Information
  • Scholarship payments are made to the student's family before the start of the school year.
  • Schools are requested to complete a report annually confirming the student's satisfactory progress.
  • At the end of Year 12, students must complete an evaluation questionnaire.
  • Scholarships are awarded on the understanding that schools will liaise with the student and family, and seek advice and support from the Koorie Education Workforce where appropriate.

Who can apply?
  • Female students educated at a Victorian government school for the last 5 years preceding the awarding of the scholarships – exceptions apply for holders of humanitarian visas.
  • Female students who intend to undertake a full-time degree at any university in Victoria in 2019 - there are no restrictions on courses a student can study.
  • Students whose parents'/guardians' joint gross income does not exceed the permissible threshold ($82,483.00 per annum in 2018).
  • Applicants who are under 19 years of age on 1st January 2019 (i.e. not yet 20) – exceptions apply for holders of humanitarian visas.

  • In 1946, funds were bequeathed by Robert Sterne Marr to provide a scholarship in perpetuity for the promotion and encouragement of education in Victoria.

  • At the end of the year, if there is a remaining balance, it is paid to the parent/guardian for the benefit of the student.

Scholarships for Children of Veterans


Scholarship details

Who can apply?
  • Only students who are a child or grandchild of a person who has operational service (as defined by the legislation) or three or more years of continuous full-time service, as a member of the Australian Navy, Army or Air Force.
  • Students who are under the age of 25 when applying unless exceptional circumstances exist related to the veteran.
  • Students who are enrolled (or planning to enrol) in a full-time undergraduate, tertiary course of one or more academic years duration by attendance at an Australian tertiarty institution.
  • Students who are eligible on income and assets grounds for the Centrelink Youth Allowance full-time educational benefits, at the time of application, if currently in full-time education. (NB students may elect to receive VCES instead of Youth Allowance).
  • Students who are Australian residents.
