Lynne Kosky Memorial VCAL scholarships opened on 24 July 2017 and will close on 5 September 2017 (extended till 27 September 2017).

These scholarships are for students who are studying in Victoria (Australia) and who are citizens or permanent residents of Australia.


Students must register for these scholarships. All applications must be made online.

Young people aged 17 years or under as at 1 January 2018 who are planning to enrol to study VCAL in 2018 as a pathway to further study, employment or training, and who face financial barriers to remaining in education are eligible to apply for these scholarships. The scholarships will be awarded to students who:

  • demonstrate participation in their local community
  • clearly outline why they are undertaking VCAL and what their aspirations are, post VCAL
  • have the endorsement of their Principal/VCAL Coordinator/CEO
  • are in financial need (determined by the parents/guardians being in receipt of a Health Care Card, a Low Income Health Care Card or a Pensioner Concession Card (Centrelink Reference Number required) or the students themselves receiving the Youth Allowance.

Lynne Kosky Memorial VCAL Scholarship


Lynne Kosky VCAL Scholarship details
  • Sponsored by the Department of Education and Training
  • Valued at $5,000 per year, (paid in grants of $2,500 per semester)
  • Available for up to 5 years subject to satisfactory documentation and progress
  • Available to support study, further education, traineeships and apprenticeships
  • Two scholarships will be awarded each year

Who can apply
  • Students who are 17 years of age or under as at 1 January 2018
  • Students who are currently enrolled in a registered Victorian school or a Non-School Senior Secondary Provider (NSSP), or in an accredited program in a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) who are planning to enrol to study VCAL in 2018 as a pathway to further education, employment or training
  • Students involved in community activities
  • Students whose families demonstrate financial need

What documentation is required?
  • Statement confirming the student’s involvement in community activities
  • Statement outlining the student’s choice in undertaking VCAL and their aspirations post VCAL
  • Statement from the student’s principal/VCAL Coordinator/CEO endorsing the application and acknowledging the benefits the scholarship would provide for the student
  • Evidence of the student receiving Youth Allowance, or the student's parent/guardian holding a Health Care Card, a Low Income Health Care Card or a Pensioner Concession Card (Centrelink Reference Number required)

  • Please note: Once you have submitted your application online, you must then seek your Principal's/CEO's or VCAL Cordinator's online endorsement and supporting comments for your application.
  • Applications will be assessed by a panel. Shortlisted applicants may be asked to attend an interview to discuss their application in further detail.
  • The Lynne Kosky Memorial VCAL Scholarships are in memory of Lynne Kosky to acknowledge the outstanding contribution she made to education and training in Victoria.
