Students have explored different perspectives in Italian about the merits and disadvantages of single-sex schooling as opposed to co-ed schools. Their task is to write an essay in Italian giving their viewpoint on this question, and presenting their arguments coherently and persuasively.
The first element in this task is the use of RationaleTM software to create a map of ideas and arguments on this topic. Students use the software to note down arguments and evidence, group and connect ideas, clarify and structure arguments and evaluate strong and weak reasoning.
After planning and organising their ideas, students write their essay.
