Disability and temporary benefits pensioners and compassionate transfer
School Based Staff
Existing Department school staffing policy seeks to balance the rights of all persons seeking employment, transfer or promotion with the Department’s obligation to provide priority consideration to staff in defined circumstances. Staff who are excess to workplace requirements is one such category as are staff with compassionate transfer status.
The Department also has statutory obligations under Section 76 of the State Superannuation Act 1988 in respect of employees receiving a temporary benefit, and pensioners under the age of 60 receiving a disability retirement benefit, who have been medically assessed as fit to return to work by Emergency Services and State Super.
For comprehensive policy and information concerning the management of staff with compassionate transfer status and managing the return to work of disability and temporary benefits pensioners select the link to 'Guidelines - pensioners and compassionate' under 'Procedures and Forms' below.
