HRMS Security

HRMS security guidelines cover the following areas:

  • Security of computer equipment used for HRMS

  • Security of Personnel and Payroll information on HRMS.

The security of computers used for HRMS

The application of an adequate level of security is necessary to ensure that computers used for HRMS:

  • are accessible and available to be used for HRMS

  • are protected against accidental or deliberate loss or damage

  • are accessed only by authorised personnel

The security of personnel and payroll information

The provision of an appropriate level of security to users of HRMS is necessary to ensure that:

  • Confidentiality is maintained and properly authorised personnel only, have access to information. Maintenance of confidentiality also requires that data is used only for the purposes for which it is intended.

  • Integrity of information is assured. The correct application of policy, the timely submission of transactions and the application of internal controls are important in this respect.

Comprehensive information concerning HRMS security requirements is in section 1 of the HRMS User Guide available by selecting the link under 'Policy & Guidelines' below. Principals and managers must ensure these guidelines are distributed to relevant staff and that internal controls are implemented to provide appropriate levels of security.
