Off Cycle Payments

Off-cycle payments are salary payments made other than by the normal fortnightly payroll. Off-cycle payments can be used to pay arrears to a staff member who is on leave without pay or where it is not appropriate to wait until the normal fortnightly salary payment.

Off-cycle payments must not be viewed as a substitute for the timely processing of salary and leave amendments, but may be requested in exceptional circumstances. Arrears payments to staff members currently receiving pay should be included in the next normal fortnightly salary payment. This will avoid possible incorrect tax deductions.

Payments in lieu of unused long service leave and annual leave to ceased staff members are also paid as off-cycle payments.

Underpayments can be paid as off-cycle payments by:

  • Activating the underpayment on HRMS, specifying it to be paid as an off-cycle payment. An underpayment activated prior to 5.00pm Wednesday will be deposited into the staff member's nominated account on the following Friday, or
  • Submitting a request to Schools HR Services. Requests received by 12pm Wednesday will be deposited into the staff member's nominated account on the following Friday.
