Enterprise Bargaining
Victorian public service employees
In principle agreement was reached between the Victorian Government and the Community and Public Sector Union on 5 May 2009 in respect to a new enterprise bargaining agreement. Procedures have commenced in respect to the approval process.
The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) will forward ballot papers to employees and votes need to be lodged with the VEC by 25 June 2009.

The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development and the Community and Public Sector Union agree on the following in respect to Appendix 5:
- In respect to Incidence Response Officers and Incidence Response Coordinators within the Emergency and security Management Unit the current arrangements will be maintained in respect to annualised salaries, hours of work and payment of a commuted overtime allowance.
- In respect to officers in the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority who are required to be on standby during Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) examination and testing processes the current standby allowances and the conditions applying to those allowances be retained, with the allowance rates being adjusted in line with the salary increases of the VPS Agreement.
- Inclusion of Senior Medical Advisors with provisions relating to:
- Access to Government vehicles for private purposes at rates and arrangements equivalent to Executive Officers;
- On-call duty requirements
- No access to the standby and recall provisions of the Agreement
- Access to special leave for conferences and research
- The capacity for Senior Medical Advisors to conduct a private medical practice providing it does not conflict with their position or DEECD policy.
School nurses
The Nurses (Department of Education and Early Childhood Development) Agreement 2008 commenced operation on 12 December 2008 with an expiry date of 1 March 2009. The Agreement covers nurses employed in schools under the Public Administration Act 2004 (Vic) and employees on the Maternal and Child Health Information Line (MCHIL).
Following in principle agreement on 5 May 2009 in respect to new Victorian Public Service agreement negotiations have commenced in respect to a new agreement for school nurses and MCHIL employees.
Principal and teacher class
The Victorian Government Schools Agreement 2008 commenced to operate on 30 July 2008. The Agreement covers the principal class, teacher class and paraprofessional class.
Education support class
The variation and extension to the Education Support Class Agreement 2008 commenced to operate on 9 December 2008 through a variation to the Victorian Government Schools – School Services Officers Agreement 2004. The Agreement covers support staff in school and introduces the new Education Support Class structure.
