Education Support Class

The Victorian Government Schools - School Services Officers Agreement 2004 was varied and extended on 9 December 2008 following agreement between the Department, the Community and Public Sector Union, the Liquor, Hospitality and Miscellaneous Union and the Australian Education Union.  The variation to the agreement introduced the Education Support Class and is commonly referred to as the Education Support Class Agreement.

The Education Support Class Agreement has the following key features:

  • Four salary increases effective from the first pay period on or after:
    • 4.9%   - 1 September 2008
    • 2.71% - 1 April 2009
    • 2.71% - 1 April 2010
    • 2.71% - 1 April 2011
  • Two classification levels within the Education Support Class
  • Five new work value levels within the Education Support Class and new Dimensions of Work to reflect the new work value levels.
  • Alignment of the commencement salary at Education Support Level 2, Range 3 with the commencement salary for a graduate teacher.
  • A lump sum payment to eligible employees ranging from $100 to $1000, pro rata for part-time employees providing it is not less than $100.  The lump sum payment does not apply to casual employees.
  • Introduction of a common salary progression date of 1 May each year commencing on 1 May 2009.
  • Commitment to Blueprint for Education and Early Childhood Development (2008) initiatives and school improvement.
